| COME ON, YOU KNOW YOU WANT ONE: BikeCraft III, Thursday. |
Thursday Nov. 15
See & Be Seen Bike Light Parade
Jeff Bernards is the man. Not only does he hold awesome summer bike tours (like his annual trip to Oxbow) and continue to fit bicyclists with helmets at the Multnomah County Bike Fair, the Get Lit program founder is also the inspiration behind Portland Office of Transportation's similarly themed bike-safety campaign, which kicks off its second annual well-lit ride through downtown. See what one little light bulb above your head can do! The more lights, the brighter. Meet at the corner of Southwest Park Avenue and West Burnside Street, portlandonline.com. 6 pm. Free. Easy.
BikeCraft III
Whereas Hollywood's sequels keep getting worse (did you see Spider-Man 3 I wish I hadn't), Portland's bike craft fair keeps getting better. This year's newest goodie: "smittens" (locally handmade bike mittens), plus the return of stocking stuffers like "beer-view mirrors" (bike mirrors made from beer bottle caps). Lucky Lab Beer Hall, 1945 NW Quimby St. 6-10 pm. bikeportland.org/bikecraft. Free. Easy.
Friday Nov. 16
Blotto Photto Show
The principal photographer for Burton Snowboards—Dean Blotto Gray—is tonight displaying 20 of his favorite shots taken over the past two years. With such a unique middle name I feel as if I should be elated, but I'm strangely endorphinless. Exit Real World, 7447 SW Bridgeport Road, Tigard, 684-8300. 7 pm. Free. Easy.
Saturday Nov. 17
PUMP Club's Bicycle Swap
Sometimes numbers speak louder than words. Case in point: The Portland United Mountain Pedalers have held this community-based swaperoo for roughly 15 of its 20 years as a club. Not only does the majority of their annual budget come from this fundraiser, but your attendance also figures into the selection of new and used bike stuff (i.e., the more folks involved, the better the assortment to be bought, sold or traded). Plus, last year's raffle ($1 per ticket) included such donated goodies as a tandem bike rack, frames, helmets and gloves. The Friendly House, 1737 NW 26th Ave. 11 am-3 pm. To reserve a table, call 703-4300. $2 admission ($10-$25 for vendors). Easy.
Sat.-Sun. Nov. 17-18
Wild Arts Festival
It's difficult to make fun of a show displaying Oregon's National Junior Duck Stamp winners when it also features the author of 50 Places to Go Birding Before You Die. Yes, the Audubon Society's 27th annual "show and sale of nature-related art and books" has quite the eclectic lineup, with over 70 authors, including well-known locals William Sullivan and Laura O. Foster, along with 25 artists . Montgomery Park Atrium and Ballroom, 2701 NW Vaughn St., audubonportland.org. 10 am-6 pm Saturday, 11 am-5 pm Sunday. $5. Easy.
