[April 19th, 2006] Okaaay, let's try this again. Last week we reported that the Noble Rot crew is opening a new meat-centric spot in St. Johns called "No Baloney ." Actually, according to Rot chef Leather Storrs , the new joint will be called Nobleoni , a kind of wordplay on his current wine bar's moniker. Whatever, we'd still eat at No Baloney anyway. >> Karen Harding of Cup and Saucer says she's also opening a new outlet near St. Johns—in a refurbished quickie mart in the nearby Kenton 'hood. She says the new Saucer will open within the next two month. Not satisfied with brunch domination, Harding's also hard at work turning an old Quonset hut at the corner of Northeast 24th Avenue and Alberta Street into a non-smoking bar called High Water Mark . >> In other NoPo news, coffee haven The Albina Press is officially hot (caffeinated) shit. Last week, the cafe's manager and lead barista Billy Wilson outpoured 48 coffee slingers to win second place in the U.S. Barista Championship in Charlotte, N.C. According to Albina owner Kevin Fuller , that's "the highest national ranking of any Oregon barista, ever." Congrats!
