Bakery Bar

BY WW EDITORIAL STAFF | 503-243-2122

[March 19th, 2008] Sunny Bakery Bar serves the eastside working world that’s sprung up down by the water among revitalized industrial brick buildings and the bumpiest asphalt in town. Sammies are short in stature but strong on taste: the salami, provolone, roasted red onion and pesto Finocchiona ($7) goes damn well with the soup of the day (like the hearty Moroccan lentil stew, $4.50). Of course, they don’t call it the Bakery Bar because they’ve got great sushi—check out their delectable selection of gourmet cakes, cupcakes, pastries and tarts, too. If the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man worked at OMSI, he might grab a cup o’ joe here—it’s got to be the only spot in the neighborhood with homemade marshmallows, caramel and chocolate syrup. (LK)

1028 SE Water Ave., 546-8110. Breakfast and lunch Monday-Saturday.
