[March 19th, 2008] Set in an urban strip mall overlooking I-405, Nancy’s Kitchen is easy to miss—but Nancy Lee’s mostly elderly clientele know a good thing when they find it. Dishes tend toward traditional sandwiches, soups and salads, including Nancy’s “famous” tarragon chicken salad ($8.59), served on a bed of mixed greens alongside juicy pineapple and bland banana bread. For larger appetites, grab the Junie’s burger ($7.79), a 1/3-pound chuck patty topped with kosher pickles and a creamy special sauce. Don’t leave without sampling the treat of the day to keep you jittery through the afternoon. (AG)
