Comcast Cable execs Curt Henninger and Debbie Luppold will host a “wine and appetizers” fundraiser the night of April 30 for Commissioner Sam Adams ’ mayoral campaign at the Jupiter Hotel on East Burnside Street. It’s a tricky spot for Adams, given that the company is negotiating its next franchise agreement with city regulators and Adams has tried to paint his opponent, businessman Sho Dozono, as a tool of special interests. (“If asked, we would provide equivalent support for Sho,” says Comcast spokeswoman Theressa Davis.) Comcast paid Portland $3.2 million last year to run its cables in public rights-of-way, and its current deal with the city expires in 2010. Also co-hosting the fundraiser is OMSI director Nancy Steuber. In November, Adams arranged a $300,000 one-time payment from the city to OMSI to help pay down the museum’s debt. Doesn’t Adams worry about appearances ? “The question has always been about disclosure, and full disclosure,” says campaign manager Jennifer Yocom. “Any contribution to our campaign is disclosed.”
While City Hall wannabes tried to hog the Candidates Gone Wild stage on April 28, a Multnomah County Commission candidate was accused of hogging an endorsement. County Democratic Party Chairwoman K.C. Hanson emailed District 3 candidate Mike Delman , asking Delman to change an April 21 blog post on his website saying he snagged the MultCo Dems’ endorsement. In fact, the county Dems co-endorsed Delman and two of his chief rivals, Rob Milesnick and Judy Shiprack . Hanson said in an email to the candidates, before Delman’s blog was posted, that they must indicate in campaign literature that the endorsement is a co-endorsement. Reached April 29, Delman told Trail Mix he’s in the process of making the change.

Southeast Portland’s Bipartisan Cafe isn’t exactly living up to its name in the presidential race. The coffee house at 7901 SE Stark St. serves an “Obama Blend,” a blend of Kenyan and Indonesian coffees in honor of the candidate’s heritage. But does the cafe carry a McCain or possibly a Clinton? Nope, Bipartisan says, because there really is no U.S. coffee for the other candidates’ heritage. What, no Dunkin’ Donuts blend?

Secretary of State ain’t Oregon’s sexiest job. But the Democratic race to replace Bill Bradbury in the office that’s second in line to the governor is one of the state’s hottest races. Democratic candidates Kate Brown, Rick Metsger and Vicki Walker face off this week at the City Club of Portland’s Friday Forum. 12:15 pm, The Governor Hotel, 614 SW 11th Ave. $5 for nonmembers.
