BY WW EDITORIAL STAFF | newsdesk at wweek dot com

[May 3rd, 2006] As if owning seven local bars, including Barracuda and Duke's, weren't enough, Portland's Concept Entertainment Group now steps way outside its comfort zone to launch its newest venture: The Thirsty Lion Pub . A "Portland pub with British influence," the Lion will boast plasma screens beaming rugby and lacrosse games straight into revelers' brainpans, bangers and pints, local bands, and—we're guessing, here—really, really drunk tan girls. Huzzah! Located at the corner of Southwest 2nd Avenue and Ash Street (in Bar 71's old digs), the public house should attract a new crowd to the area, who before had to go all the way across the street to Kells for pints, local bands and—we're positive—really, really drunk tan girls. >> Alcohol, coffee and other thirst quenchers finally get their proper editorial due as the Portland-based Imbibe magazine pops up on newstands all across the nation. The first issue already includes a lil' local love, like shout-outs to Stumptown Coffee Roasters and Doug Fir , which is apparently one of the 12 greatest hotel bars in the country. Check out www.imbibemagazine.com for details.
