[May 23rd, 2007] Tucked away on North Mississippi is a direct warp hole to eclectic wineland. Lupa (3955 N Mississippi Ave., 287-5872), which opened last month, captivates with towering stacks of bottles and a quirky wall of old wine boxes in back. Hang out at the short concrete bar, hum along to the Cowboy Junkies and peruse a brief list of interesting, nicely priced reds, whites and bubblies, from Croatia to South Africa and beyond. The bar's owner bakes cupcakes and cookies to go with her sweet wine deals every darn day. >> Caffeine fetishists were bound to hit town sometime: Sadie's Hot Spot (17185 SE McLoughlin Blvd., 659-1447), a new drive-thru espresso stand in Milwaukie, features both Stumptown cups and D cups (ahem, that's a 20-ounce drip coffee, $1.75), from servers clad in lingerie. Check out sadieshotspot.com for a real eye-opener.
