Portland is a produce paradise. If you’re looking to create a masterpiece in your own kitchen you won’t have to go far to find just the right ingredients. There are plenty of options out there for those of us with high-end tastes and low-end budgets. We picked out the places where you’re likely to find the best bargains.

^Fubonn Supermarket and Deli

An exhaustive vegetable market is tucked into the back corner of this Asian superstore, with good prices on everyday veggies as well as more exotic imports. 2850 SE 82nd Ave., 517-8877.

^Thanh Thao Market

This Vietnamese market has a complete selection of Asian vegetables as well as groceries and a deli. Prices are reliably low. 6517 NE Sandy Blvd., 284-4129.

^People’s Co-op

Since 1970, People’s has been a neighborhood outlet for fresh-from-the-farm organic produce—a perfect standby when the farmers market is hibernating. 3029 SE 21st Ave., 674-2642.

^Limbo

Another neighborhood favorite that’s worth going out of your way for. Great seasonal produce at reasonable prices—always check out the outdoor displays for super deals. 4707 SE 39th Ave., 774-8008.

^Portland Fruit

If you pick your fruit and veggies based on what’s in season and on sale, you can easily buy plenty of fixin’s for tonight’s dinner (and fruit for dessert) here for around five bucks. 8040 SE Foster Road, 777-0072.

^Berry Good Produce and Nursery

This tiny roadside shack has a full array of produce, attracting many customers from the Reed college community. Prices are low, especially on big-bin items[i]. 5523 SE 28th Ave., 234-7288.
