Detour Cafe

BY WW EDITORIAL STAFF | 503-243-2122

[March 19th, 2008] There’s old Portland and then there’s new Portland, and the Detour Cafe, with its colorful facade and bright ’n’ shiny staff, seems pretty new Portland. That’s not a condemnation—it just means you can bring your kids and no one will scoff. Speaking of kids, they’ll dig the melty cheese sandwich ($4) while you snack on the creamy smoked-salmon version ($6). Most of the Detour’s sandwiches are served on thick, housemade focaccia, which is a downright joy. See? New Portland ain’t so bad. (CJ)

3035 SE Division St., 234-7499. Breakfast and lunch daily.
