Measure 52

Yes!

BY WW EDITORIAL STAFF | 503-243-2122

[April 30th, 2008]

Same deal as Measure 51 with the same supporting cast. The reason there’s a second measure is that Measure 52 addresses a different part of the state constitution dealing with crime victims’ rights. That section gives crime victims the right to be protected from people accused of a crime, which could affect decisions about pretrial release.

Measure 52 would strengthen that right by giving crime victims recourse in the state Court of Appeals if they feel their right to protection has been violated. Our conclusion: the same as with Measure 51. Vote yes.

Same supporting cast? ACLU has taken a neutral position on this one, too. I am confused.
