Outdoor


Creston Pool

Heated to 84 degrees and mostly deserted in the morning. Do your outdoor laps here.

Grant Pool

2300 NE 33rd Ave., 823-3674, portlandonline.com. Open June 16-Sept. 1, 6 am-9:55 pm Mondays-Fridays, noon-6 pm Saturdays-Sundays. Ages 2 and under free, $2 ages 3-17, $3.25, 18+.

A popular swimming destination for families in summertime, this pair of 25-yard pools next to Grant High School is Kiddie Paradise.

Montavilla Community Center and Pool

8219 NE Glisan St., 823-3675, portlandonline.com. Open June 16-Aug. 29, 8 am-9:40 pm Mondays-Fridays, 1-5 pm Saturdays-Sundays. Ages 2 and under free, $2 ages 3-17, $3.25, 18+.

It has a drop slide! Whee!

Peninsula Park Community Center and Pool

700 N Rosa Parks Way, 823-3620, portlandonline.com. Open June 16-Aug. 29, 1-8 pm Mondays-Fridays and 1-5 pm Saturdays-Sundays. Ages 2 and under free, $2 ages 3-17, $3.25, 18+.

In 1957, a flock of Humboldt penguins kicked it at the pool while waiting for their new digs at the Oregon Zoo to be finished.

Pier Pool

Corner of North Seneca Street and St. Johns Avenue., 823-3678, portlandonline.com. Open June 19-Aug. 31, 11:30 am-8:15 pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 11:30 am-6:30 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1-5 pm Saturdays-Sundays. Ages 2 and under free, $2 ages 3-17, $3.25, 18+.

Pier Park was developed in the ’30s, but now it has free wi-fi. Sweet!

Sellwood Pool

7951 SE 7th Ave., 823-3679, portlandonline.com. Open June 16-Sept. 1, 7 am-9:35 pm Mondays-Fridays, 1-5 pm Saturdays, 11:30-4:50 Sundays. Open July 4. Ages 2 and under free, $2 ages 3-17, $3.25, 18+.

Open continuously since 1910, this old-school pool features a drop slide and in-pool water sprays.

Wilson Pool

1151 SE Vermont St., 823-3680, portlandonline.com. Open June 16-Sept. 1 and Sept. 6-7, 8 am-8:50 pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 8 am-9:55 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, noon-6pm Saturdays-Sundays. Ages 2 and under free, $3 ages 3-17, $5, 18+.

Features a 170-foot winding current channel with a vortex and a 114-foot water slide.

Indoor

Matt Dishman Community Center and Pool

77 NE Knott St., 823-3673, portlandonline.com. Open June 16-Sept. 1, 6 am-9 pm Mondays-Fridays, 9 am-5:15 pm Saturdays, 1:30 am-5:15 pm Sundays. Ages 2 and under free, $2 ages 3-13, $2.75 ages 14-17, $3.25 ages 18-59, $2.75 60+.

Along with an extremely complicated pricing system, Dishman offers three different “All-Star Pool Party Packages” for which you can choose your own party theme (make mine “1984 Beat Street”)—plus they include clean-up!

Mt. Scott Community Center and Pool

5530 SE 72nd Ave., 823-3183, portlandonline.com. Open June 16-Sept. 1, 5:30 am-9:30 pm Mondays-Fridays, 8 am-6:30 pm Saturdays, noon-5:30 pm Sundays. $2.50 ages 3-12, $3 13-17, $3.75 18-59, $3, 60+.

Heated to 88 degrees, Mt. Scott features a hot tub, leisure pool with slide, current channel, vortex and interactive play structures. And it opens extra-early for pre-work swimmers.

North Clackamas Aquatic Park

7300 SE Harmony Drive, Milwaukie, 794-8080, pdxsurf.com. All-ages open swim 6-9 pm Fridays, noon-7 pm Saturdays, 1-5 pm Sundays. $4.99 ages 3-8; $6.99 ages 9-17, $9.99 ages 18-61, $6.99, 62+.

Four-hundred thousand gallons of fun with waterslides, lap and kiddie pools and a “pseudo sea beach.”

Southwest Community Center and Pool
