We can always count on one of the city’s—and the world’s—finest choirs to refresh our ears with striking, ancient yet unfamiliar sounds from Eastern Europe and beyond. This month’s revelation is the sacred music of Ukraine, from medieval chant through the 17th, 18th and early 19th centuries. Guest director and Orthodox church music expert Mark Bailey has chosen some of the most stirring vocal music by composers you’ve never heard of, and CR will no doubt sing it beautifully, as it  always does.
