Corrie Young, SW Portland, OR
I was talking to my brother, Matt the Electrician when my dog, Bingo ran up and told me my old Third Grade teacher was spreading Libido (not to mention tounge) on my boyfriend, Fragile Jack and I felt like the Furious IV but I went to the store and bought a Pint o' Guinness, instead.Bill Kerr, SW Portland, OR
"Easy big fella," and "R.U.O.K?" the strange voices mixing with the gasoline fumes in my head, suddenly becoming "Lucky Me!" and "It's a miracle baby!" as my thinking began to clear and I realized I had made it after all, arriving with a flourish at the Paradise Motel just as the engine in the mystery machine made its final keening sounds, kind of like spitting incredibly magnified, which I noticed had scared the living daylights out of the ninety pound wuss junior high track star across the street, abruptly ending his warm-up routine (doubtless created when he no longer felt that watching Jane Fonda aerobics videos with his playmates in the sissy bar qualified as a real workout -- since adding some stretching exercises while chanting Om, however, he had truly come to identify himself as a yogi), reminding myself that although toward the end of my arduous drive I had scolded myself that there must be at least 17 reasons why this harebrained vacation plan I had devised to tour the western portion of the northern hemisphere in the heat of August could have ended up being a real downer (I shuddered as I considered some of the possibilities: dividing my time between playing bingo and otherwise starving for culture at the drive- in in Idaho, killing time dipping wild strawberries in apricot jam at Severna Park in the Sunset Valley, watching the quick erratic movement of a dragonfly at an otherwise lifeless tilted roadside monument to the state flowers of Arizona, hanging out poolside in Nevada trying to medicate my pain with a pint o'Guinness, ruining myself in the bebop & destruction of present-day Seattle), but instead I was blessed with the good fortune to wind up in the beautiful City of Roses just in time to enjoy all the goodness and feel the kinship develop among music lovers from near and far at the matchless annual celebration of music known as NXNW!Skip Werner, Chicago IL
17 reasons why I should move back to Portland; Herman Jolly, Richmond Fontaine, Pinehurst Kids, Allon Beausoleil, Junior high, Sunset Valley, Swoon 23, The Maroons, Fernando, 44 Long, Rollerball, Spectator Pump, Golden Delicious, Kaitlyn Ni Donovan, Miss Red Flowers, Miss Murgatroid, Charlie Bradshaw, and no other city in the world could give me that many wonderful reasons.Douglas Duguay, SW Portland, OR
I Kilgore Trout, a ninety pound wuss who wears Hai Karate, caries a throw rag, enjoys jumbo shrimp and drinking a pint o' Guinness, am going to the Sissy Bar in the Dolomites with Fat Mama.Anne Tiller, SE Portland, OR
I am one fat mama, full of faith and disease,(lucky me), I can give you 17 reasons why I love the goodness of 44 long Nevada Bachelors.
