This year, after The O recycled Bob Young's story on the King-56 crash, even other folks in town took notice. When Dan Cook from the Business Journal asked Oregonian editor Sandy Rowe about the journalistic heist, she had a simple reply: She doesn't even read Willamette Week. The implication, we assume, was that she couldn't be stealing stories from a publication she never read. At first we suspected that Ms. Rowe simply didn't want to admit she read WW, but now we think she might have been telling the truth. How else to explain 1997's blatant reportorial ripoffs: |
