Neighborhood: Lake Oswego

You bemoan the lack of country clubs in Portland... Welcome to Lake Oswego! Oregon’s most likely contender for a Real Housewives series, Lake Oswego does host an actual lake (but not for you, as it’s hedged by one of Portland’s priciest neighborhoods). (read more) This is the promised land, assuming you get off on nouveau Nantucket design and WASP culture (although we admit, those unaffordable homes on the hill do afford killer views). Suss it out at: A brunch buffet at scenic Oswego Lake House (40 N State St., 636-4561), and don’t leave town without lusting over Wizer’s (330 1st St., 636-1414), the posh neighborhood grocery (sorry, does your ’hood’s market not boast more bottles of wine than people in town?).

Ratings and comments

I agree with the reviewer about the orchestra, but couldn't disagree more with his panning of Jay Pevney as Max. He played bellicose and bawdy with all the right energy, and certainly the night I was there, the audience caught all his gags, spoken and sung. Maybe the sound engineer was off the mark the night you were there. His work was a bit spotty. I had a great time with the whole production, though.

Rating: Thumbs up
