As part of its sponsorship of Eat Mobile, Whole Foods is asking the people of Portland which food-cart item they must have in their kitchen cupboard.
A takeoff from its Local Producer Loan Program, Whole Foods is implementing its Street Eats line into area markets with food-specific grab-and-go items.
The winner of the Street Eats campaign will work with Whole Foods to develop a ready-to-go item that showcases his or her product and also meets the market's quality standards. To make this possible, the winner of the campaign will be eligible to receive a Local Producer Loan.
About the Local Producer Loan Program: Started in 2006, the Local Producer Loan Program has provided up to $10 million in low-interest loans to independent local farmers and food artisans.
