Ground Kontrol Wins $25,000 in Renovation Money

ground kontrol wins!Holy crap! Ground Kontrol has been involved in the Save the Arcades contest for the past couple of months, and they won! The downtown barcade intends to use its $25,000 prize on renovations and a forthcoming expansion. I gotta say, I get a little teary when I think of how far Ground Kontrol has come since being a cute little Southeast Portland novelty.

As much as I really want them to spend the 25K on Captain Fantastic, here's to hoping GK renovates its dancefloor and books some more live music in the months to come, too! Here's the full press release from Ground Kontrol:

Hi everyone,

If you haven't heard the news, we are excited to announce Ground
Kontrol won Save the Arcades 2 and the $25,000 prize!

The full press release from Stride is attached and the text follows this email.

We plan to use the prize money to expand and remodel our arcade, and
you can view a preview of said plans at our website. You can also view
the final scores! Check out the "We Won!!!" post at:

If you would like to talk to us more about our contest experience and
our plans, please get in touch - we would love to let everyone know
cool things are on the horizon for GK.

Thank you to everyone that featured Ground Kontrol over the past
couple of months - we were blown away by the support of our customers
and fans!
