Laetitia Sadier, Orca Team

[POLITICO-POP] Silencio, Laetitia Sadier's first solo effort since the dissolution of Stereolab, doesn't take huge stylistic leaps away from the sleek, jazzy, motorik sound of her former band. Instead, it returns to a more direct sociopolitical tone that in previous efforts she hid under layers of metaphor. The adjustment is a much-needed one, especially in these fractious times. Sadier's gentle croon is the perfect salve for the financial and democratic crises the world can't seem to avoid. She'll be joined on this bill by local surf-pop punkers Orca Team, swinging home briefly in the midst of a ridiculous three-month tour.
