Gallows, Barn Burner, Vendetta Red
7 pm, Monday November 26 | $13 advance, $15 day of show
[U.K. HARDCORE] Gallows, the self-titled third album from the hardcore Brits released earlier this year, features a crucial difference from the two blistering records that preceded it—though a casual fan would be hard-pressed to identify it. Singer Frank Carter departed last year, so the guy you hear burning his larynx across the 11 new tracks is Wade McNeil of Canada's Alexisonfire. To be honest, though, this is sort of a "Bon Scott-Brian Johnson" scenario, as the two sound enough alike that the switch hasn't seemed to fundamentally alter the band's trajectory. It's still playing angry, angular, flayed-alive punk, and that's just as it should be.
