A Very Joan Crawford Christmas

If you want to avoid all the overwrought Christmas offerings this holiday season but still want to see some theater, you should see A Very Joan Crawford Christmas. The show actually has very little to do with Christmas; the holiday only serves as an excuse for Joan Crawford to break the fourth wall and invite the audience into her apartment. Kam Sisco plays Joan Crawford, as he did for three seasons of Christmas With the Crawfords, also at Triangle Productions. Sisco’s Crawford is more desperate than evil, but she’s all camp. She drinks several vodka-Pepsis, scoffs at she-who-shall-not-be-named (Bette Davis) and encourages applause every time the title of one of her movies is mentioned. A cursory education on Crawford and other silver-screen divas would be helpful in getting the most out of this show.
