The documentary Pollution in Paradise helped persuade Oregonians and legislators 50 years ago that more could be done to protect the Willamette River. Today the river is a Superfund site, but at least we’re still talking about it. Catch a screening of the film at the Oregon Encyclopedia History Night “Polluting Paradise: The Formative Years of Willamette River Pollution Abatement, 1920s-1960s.”
