[ARENA ROCK] So few rock bands have made that big step into the arena league in the last 10 years. England’s Muse is one of the few to blow up and hold on, while maintaining some credibility. There’s nothing particularly new about Muse—and really, what truly “new” music would get played on the radio in 2013?—but the band has successfully hybridized some of the goods originally delivered by Queen, U2 and Radiohead. Latest Muse album, 2012’s The 2nd Law, is all about entropy and failing systems. It’s a good message to send to the masses, especially coming from a band that still seems to be on an upward trajectory with the best of intentions.
