How interesting can a tree be? Pretty darn interesting, it turns out, in the hands of artist Rita Robillard. Her screenprints and acrylic works on panel are arboreal etudes that look as if they came out of somebody’s LSD trip. Nuanced in detail despite an essentially flat application of paint and other media, they start out with a base of leafy greens, then layer fiery oranges and reds on top. The effect pits foreground against background in a retina-searing tug of war. Through March 2.
