George Colligan and Kerry Politzer

ROBERT HAM
8 pm., Saturday March 09 | $5.
Camellia Lounge
510 NW 11th Ave.

[JAZZ DUETS] George Colligan managed a rare feat during the recently concluded PDX Jazz Festival: damn near upstaging master musicians Jack DeJohnette, Matthew Garrison and Don Byron during their collaborative performance. Colligan, a multi-instrumentalist who bounces between here and New York City, tore into the set with fevered joy, using loose synth lines and scattered bits of grand piano to maximum Bitches Brew-like effect. For this evening Colligan is going to rein in his freeform tendencies to support singer-songwriter Kerry Politzer for an intimate evening of tunes the pair has composed together.
