Keller Williams

AP KRYZA
9 pm., Friday April 12 | $25.
Aladdin Theater
3017 SE Milwaukie Ave.

[JAMMIN’ ON HIS OWN] Keller Williams could have made for a stellar children’s entertainer: The dude’s incredible “one-man jam-band” methods of looping vocal and instrumental elements include funky, often whimsical and sweet-natured melodies. (He actually does have one kids’ record under his belt, and Raffi it ain’t.) He’s something of a hippie superhero, a dude whose mind-blowing, self-contained shows are the stuff of trippy legend—even his work with String Cheese Incident is pretty remarkable. Williams recently collaborated with the Travelin’ McCourys and is launching a piano-based Grateful Dead cover album, but the real draw is watching the guy jackknife across genre lines—funk, rock, reggae—on a stage with nothing but his guitar, his robots and his whimsy.
