[SCOT ROCK] They may be best—only?—known in America as the bespectacled crew-cut blondes responsible for “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles),” but identical twins Craig and Charlie Reid have charted consistently in their native U.K. since hitting No. 3 stateside in 1993 with the then-ubiquitous theme song to Johnny Depp rom-com Benny & Joon. Their ninth full-length release, last year’s Like Comedy, is another affable, well-crafted outing, a mix of singsong ballads, show-tune melodies and shanty folk-pop musings delivered in their signature brogue. The brothers Reid, now 51, haven’t strayed from the silver-lining pep talks of “Sunshine on Leith” and “I’m on My Way.” Take the simple, earnest advice of the title track: “When you lose your appetite for self-destruction/You can stop viewing life as tragedy/Give it a few more years and look from this angle/Where it looks more and more and more like comedy.” Simpler still, the fellas are going it acoustic this tour.
