Crystal Castles, Pictureplane

BRANDON WIDDER
8 pm., Monday April 29 | $32.
Roseland Theater
8 NW 6th Ave.

[DOOMSDAY ELECTRO] The age-old tradition of releasing multiple self-titled albums in a row may hearken back to the days of Zeppelin, but it’s not one many modern bands seem to follow. Crystal Castles, Toronto’s flagship experimental electro-pop duo, may have missed the memo—it has three eponymous albums to date—but that hasn’t stopped it from churning out a new mix of dark, dystopian tunes every two years. Producer Ethan Kath and vocalist Alice Glass’ newest release under the moniker, III, features the same notoriously aggressive blend of shrill vocals and vicious synths that continually draw the hooded youth of our fair city out of the shadows and onto the dance floor.
