Oregon Ballet Theatre’s ode to American music incorporates pieces set to classic orchestral scores, as well as a Northwest indie-folk band. The contemporary dance show features three works, including a premier of Stream by Swedish choreographer Pontus Lidberg, who created his piece in collaboration with Portland native and Julliard-trained composer Ryan Francis. That piece should be a nice foil to the premiere of Robust American Love by Trey McIntyre, a choreographer whose last works in Portland were set to the tunes of Roy Orbison and the Sex Pistols, and who now is tackling the Fleet Foxes. OBT will also have its company premiere of Matthew Neenan’s At the Border, a whirlwind of a piece set to music from Hallelujah Junction by John Adams.
