Portland-based performance poet Rashida Shani Young will release her new book of poetry, Squint, with an accompanying album. The double release explores Young’s life growing up in the black Baptist Church while trying to reconcile the spirituality of her African roots. Several local poets and musicians will join the release-party performance before Young takes her work on the road to Nigeria.
