[29 AGAIN?] Over the last 30 years, the Melvins has consistently reinvented itself, releasing a new album every 12-18 months. While heavy sludge is the through-line, there have always been aspects of heavy metal, punk, progressive rock, extreme noise and a kitchen sink of bent ideas that keep the band fresh. For its 21st opus, the band produced a covers album, Everybody Loves Sausages with guest appearances from longtime friends Jello Biafra and Mark Arm, to name only two. Interpretations of Roxy Music, Venom, Throbbing Gristle and David Bowie bear the indelible stamp of Melvins’ muscular, inbred attitude. Here’s to 30 more years of head scratching and knuckle dragging.
