[DIRTY BLACK SUMMER] Hell hath frozen over. The once unthinkable is happening: Glenn Danzig has agreed to perform a set of Misfits tunes with his old guitarist, Doyle. If that isn’t enough, Danzig currently has the best backing band he’s had since the original lineup of his eponymous group bowed out back in 1995. Of course, Tommy Victor from Prong is on guitar, but the rhythm section of bassist Steve Zing (formerly of Samhain) and Type O Negative drummer Johnny Kelly keep Danzig’s bluesy metal songs in the pocket, where they belong. Danzig even took steps to make his last album, 2010’s Deth Red Sabaoth, more organic than the industrial-metal schlock he’d been churning out since the mid-’90s. Come for the Misfits, stay for the Danzig.
