[ACOUSTIC FOLK] Liz Longley is a singer-songwriter who beguiles with supremely emotional tales of love and loss, but the most striking thing about her is that she does this with remarkable subtlety and grace. Whether it’s a multilayered track like “Unraveling,” in which she loses control in tandem with her grandmother’s loss of mental faculties, or consoling a lover on “When You’ve Got Trouble,” Longley’s songs are guided by her calm and graceful vocals. Avoiding histrionics can be a tricky thing when pouring your heart out, but Longley’s performances are so much more memorable because of her delicate, but no less potent, delivery.
