[INDIE FOLK] Brooklyn folk-rock outfit Woods is as much a niche musical force as an underground brand. Jeremy Earl’s project started in New York back in 2005 with a few personal songs. He fleshed out a sturdy band over time and made one of the best indie albums in recent history in Bend Beyond. Over eight years Woods built a tender little empire, which includes its own music festival and standout record label Woodsist (which features Portland’s Woolen Men on the roster). Better still, the two newest singles from the Woods camp show a band in excellent form, drawing on influences from Neil Young and the Byrds, while offering the band’s own special touch of textured neo-folk.
