Usnea, Ninth Moon Black, Rolling Through the Universe, Beringia

NATHAN CARSON
9 pm., Friday November 01 | $5.
Ash Street Saloon

[POST-DOOM] With all the festivals and reunions this season, it’s refreshing to see a bill like this, with all local acts (well, Ninth Moon Black hails from Eugene, but close enough), a cheap ticket price and, better still, top-shelf music. Ninth Moon Black has been progressing from under the influence of Isis, Tool and Neurosis for so long that it’s truly found its own spirit, anchored by drummer Kasey Marcusky’s agile pummeling. Contrasting the elegance of Ninth Moon Black is the murk and bile of Usnea. This foursome lays down a psychedelic sprawl that reaches into the void and condenses into black-hole finality.
