Decomposers Night: Classical Revolution PDX, the Waking Guild, Myrrh Larsen
8 pm., Sunday October 27 | $10 suggested donation.
[LOVECRAFTIAN CLASSICAL] New Classical Revolution PDX director Christopher Corbell has added contemporary music—often by young, local composers—to its original formula of Bach-in-the-bars jam sessions. Accordingly, this year’s annual Decomposers Night stage showcase features several scary and new homegrown works of incidental chamber music (for various combinations of strings, sax, harp, clarinet and voices) inspired by the tales of classic horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. One of them accompanies a dramatic reading by veteran Portland voice actor Sam Mowry. Myrrh Larsen’s set includes orchestral harp and string arrangements by Corbell, followed by Church of Hive’s gothic-industrial-darkwave DJs.
