Cowboy Mouth, Goodbyemotel

AP KRYZA
9 pm., Thursday November 07 | $15.
Doug Fir Lounge
830 E Burnside St.

[NOLA ROCK] New Orleans quartet Cowboy Mouth just might be the Big Easy’s version of Eugene’s Floater. Both have rabid fan bases; CM’s has been frothing since the mid-’90s, rallying around the group’s bounding hit “Jenny Says” as its fans engage in insider-y acts of worship like tossing spoons onto the stage. And like Floater, nonfans are simply bewildered, because aside from the aforementioned hit, the band’s output teeters on Barenaked Ladies-level of cheese. Cowboy Mouth surpassed the nostalgia wave that trapped so many of its peers. That says something. But if you’re brought to the show by a fan, keep in mind you’re either going to fall in love or eternally question your friend’s taste.
