Crazy Jane Misbehaves: A Cascadia Women's Concert

BRETT CAMPBELL
7:30 pm., Friday November 15 | $5-$20.

[XX-RATED COMPOSERS] As last month’s Third Angle concert featuring the music of Gabriela Lena Frank demonstrated, some of today’s most fascinating contemporary classical music is being written by female composers, as though they’re making up for the centuries in which women were denied such opportunities. Likewise, of the many concerts the Oregon composers group has staged in the past few years, those devoted to the region’s female composers have been some of the most entertaining and exploratory. This year’s lineup includes music by CC president Jan Mittelstaedt, electronic musician Susan Alexjander, Lisa Marsh, PSU prof Bonnie Miksch and other proven, emerging talents.
