Eva Lake: Anonymous Women

RICHARD SPEER
Thursday April 03
Augen DeSoto
716 NW Davis St.

Eva Lake is a gifted abstract artist whose pattern-based oil paintings follow in the lineage of Op Art. But she’s also accomplished in collage work. Viewers may remember her Targets series, which paid homage to Greta Garbo, Carole Lombard, Ann-Margret and other Hollywood femmes fatales. For her new body of work, Anonymous Women, she incorporates imagery of not-so-famous women, culled from fashion magazines and other sources. The show promises to offer a thought-provoking look at the idea of anonymity and the beauty industry. April 3-26.
