[BASQUE PUNK] If you ever wonder why bands from other countries all seem to sing in English, then ponder the status of Berri Txarrak. This melodic punk group, founded in Basque country on the northern coast of Spain way back in 1994 and whose name translates to “Bad News,” has seven albums and hundreds of international gigs under its belt. Some of those records were tracked with producers of note like Steve Albini and, lately, Ross Robinson. And while the group sounds more commercial than ever, thanks to the investment of Roadrunner Records, Berri Txarrak is still singing in its native tongue, and playing punk dives in markets like Eugene and Chico.
