Sun-bleached cow bones, a piñata and a video of a naked woman crawling around on rocks and doing push-ups—these are just a few of the objects brought back from the Sonoran Desert by artists who participated in an artist residency there. The eight artists spent a week in Nogales, Ariz., as part of the Outpost Residency hosted by the arts nonprofit Signal Fire. The works are diverse in subject matter, but many reference the tensions along the U.S. border with Mexico.Through Aug. 2.
