The Thermals, Summer Cannibals, the Ghost Ease

[SPEEDY PUNK] It doesn’t take long to catch up on the Thermals’ discography. In fact, it takes a mere 3.5 hours to run through the entirety of the band’s six studio albums, each teeming with blistering, two-minute cuts of pure, unadulterated punk rock. Frontman Hutch Harris’ polished howl has hardly changed since he began examining questions of faith, relationships and, in the case of the trio’s latest LP, American warmongering more than a decade ago. With its heavy distortion and bold mission statements, last year's Desperate Ground doesn’t break new ground, but it does offer the consistency you come to expect from this Portland institution.
