Craig Allen Lawver: Transformation and Mutation

RICHARD SPEER
Friday August 08
Powell's City of Books
1005 W Burnside St.

Using a pointillist technique heavy on small dots and dashes of paint, Craig Allen Lawver creates close-up studies of beetles, butterflies and other insects, as well as enlarged views of deadly viruses. By placing these images next to one another, he invites viewers to ponder relationships between what we celebrate as beautiful and what we fear. Basil Hallward Gallery, Pearl Room. Closes Aug. 30.
