Monday Soundscapes: Brian Oberlin

LYLA ROWEN
6 pm, Monday July 28 | Free.
Director Park
815 SW Park Ave.

[MANDOLIN] Free mandolin performances aren’t hard to come by in downtown Portland. Picking up on this note, the city has sanctioned an official, free mandolin event, booking world-class player Brian Oberlin to fill the air of Director Park with his sophisticated pickings. His fourth solo album consists of 10 classical Italian solo pieces, reflecting his tour of the country last summer, where he played at academies with Carlo Aonzo, one of the finest mandolinists in Italy. The tremolo staccato he picked up in Italy is the cherry on top of the bluegrass roots he fostered here in Portland.

Where: Director Park
Address: 815 SW Park Ave.
