Wimps, Lunch, the Rat, Mope Grooves

LYLA ROWEN
9 pm, Thursday August 07 | $7.
Bunk Bar
1028 SE Water Ave.

[GOOD-TIME DEGENERATES] Existing somewhere in between hardcore and garage rock, Lunch has shared bills with a versatile selection of local punk bands. Tonight the band leans more on the garage side of things, playing alongside fun-loving, Seattle-based outcasts Wimps. Like the Modern Lovers, the group's brand of punk is rooted in simple elements and an outsider aesthetic. “Party at The Wrong Time” revels in the joy of “smoking cigarettes for breakfast” and throwing up a lot. Joining in on the good times is Gnar Tapes signees Mope Grooves, a self-described "comedy band" who nonetheless specialize in making insightful remarks about the stupidity of their own lives.
