The Indian dance choreographer is a guest performer for this concert, Maya: Illusion, that mixes Indian rāgas and jazz. Raman dances a new piece inspired by the Hindu goddess Shakti, the personification of feminine creative power. Violinist Vidwan Ganesh Rajagopalan begins with a traditional composition and is accompanied by visiting Indian percussionist S.V. Ramani on the ghaṭam, or clay pot. Jazz performers Osam Ezzeldin on piano and Dafnis Prieto on drums then join for the namesake lead piece.
