[OPAQUE POST-ROCK] Hailing from Copenhagen, Denmark, the Foreign Resort likes to throw around catch-all terms like "shoegaze" and "New Wave" to describe its sound. Those descriptors are close but don't really get to the heart of the dark emotions pulsing at the quartet's core. What makes the group's self-titled EP (released late in 2011) so damned engaging is the desperation and angst that drips off Mikkel B. Jakobsen's tongue as he sings, and TFR's use of tar-thick electronic beats and loops. Just because the band likes to put itself in a genre box doesn't mean you have to follow suit.
