DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:

[SURF ROCK] Like a scene in an existential film about hallucinogenic self-actualization, Portland trio Guantanamo Baywatch is meeting its maker on stage in the form of Dick Dale, the surf-rock pioneer who immortalized the shredding guitar vibe that defined multiple generations—from ’60s beach-blanket bingo-ers to the Tarantino generation that fell in love with “Misirlou” via Pulp Fiction. Guantanamo’s one of the many illegitimate children of Dale’s, a thrash-punk offshoot of the old-school surf sound dredged through sand and seaweed, and all the more pissed off for the wear. When Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson inevitably make a Baywatch movie, these two should be the main soundtrack contributors.
