DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:

[DARK WAVE] When I think of the Soft Moon’s Luis Vasquez, I tend to picture an army general hovering above an old map, pushing infantry pieces here and there in preparation for battle. Not because the group sounds militaristic, but because there’s a wartime tension in the Soft Moon’s dark and artsy gloom-fi. Oakland-based Vasquez has nurtured a bigger sound with 2012 release Zeros, but mostly the same drugged-out, heavily mechanized sound and haunting subject matter remains. Picture a post-apocalyptic, mostly instrumental version of Turn on the Bright Lights-era Interpol and you’re nearing the Soft Moon’s eerie wall of sound.
