Portland Seeks to Ban Weed Drive-Thrus

Although there are no such facilities currently in Portland, it’s perfectly legal in Oregon.

Sorry, Portland: No cannabis drive-thru for you.

On March 2, the Portland City Council will consider a rule to bar medical marijuana dispensaries from offering drive-thru or walk-up window sales in Portland.

Although there are no such facilities currently in Portland, it's perfectly legal in Oregon. The coastal town of Gold Beach is set to welcome its first drive-thru pot shop in April.

Theresa Marchetti, who oversees Portland's marijuana regulations, says the city wants to establish rules before anyone tries to open a drive-thru here.

"In our minds," she says, "it's shoring up the language to make sure there's no confusion."
