Supporters of Ammon Bundy and his six co-defendants celebrated their acquittal today on federal conspiracy charges for an armed takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.
"We have God-given rights," said Shawna Cox, one of the seven defendants found not guilty by a federal jury this afternoon.
"Release the patriots," chanted Bundy's allies.
Meanwhile, multiple journalists inside the federal courtroom report that Ammon Bundy's attorney Marcus Mumford was tackled by federal marshals after arguing with U.S. District Judge Anna Brown. Mumford was also Tased.
Bundy supporters, who had spent much of the fall protesting outside the federal courthouse—in the same parks once held by Occupy Portland—wept and hugged on the sidewalks today.
One man lifted a shofar to his lips, and blew a celebratory song.
